Chinese phone maker Meizu has unveiled a new family of Meizu 15 smartphones. They come in normal, plus, and lite varieties and they go on sale in China starting later this month. They’re expected to head to other markets in Asia and Europe later. The Meizu 15, Meizu 15 Plus, and Meizu 15 Lite buck some of the latest trends by featuring 16:9 displays and featuring headphone jacks and home buttons (with integrated fingerprint sensors) in the bottom bezel. But they all have relatively slim bezels, giving them a somewhat modern look.
Meizu 15 Plus
The high powered Meizu 15 Plus comes with a huge 5.95-inch screen, sporting an AMOLED panel with Quad HD resolution. Under the hood, the phone is powered by Samsung’s Exynos 8895 octa-core SoC made on 10nm process, paired with 6GB of RAM and 64GB or 128GB storage options. It is the same powerful chipset that powers the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy Note 8 smartphones.
The Meizu 15 Plus packs a dual lens camera setup on the rear. There is a primary 12MP sensor with a wide-angle lens, whereas the secondary is a 20MP sensor with a telephoto lens for up to 3X lossless zoom. The camera features OIS, EIS, multi-frame noise reduction and HDR algorithms. The selfie camera is a 20 MP shooter. The Meizu 15 Plus is powered by a 3500mAh battery along with USB Type-C port and fast charging feature. The device will be available in Black and Gold colour options.
Moving onto the plain Meizu 15, we find the same AMOLED tech on a smaller 5.46-inch size screen. The phone is powered by a mid-range Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 paired with 4GB of RAM and the same 64GB and 128GB storage options.
The cameras on the Meizu 15 are still 12MP and 20MP but this time around there’s no OIS nor EIS, so you won’t be getting the same smooth shooting experience. Meizu’s 15 comes with a smaller 3000mAh capacity battery, 24W quick charging and a 3.5mm headphone jack. The handset will be available in White, Black, Blue and Gold.
Meizu 15 Lite
The Meizu 15 Lite has a Full HD resolution supporting LTPS IPS LCD display of 5.46 inches. The Snapdragon 626 SoC is supported by 4 GB of RAM. It has a native storage of 64 GB. The dual camera setup of the 15 Lite features an f/1.9 aperture 20-megapixel sensor with a pixel size of 1.4µm and a secondary 12-megapixel sensor. A 3,000mAh battery enabled with mCharge 9V/2A fast charging powers the phone. The common features available on the Meizu 15 trio include side-mounted fingerprint scanner, Flyme 7 skinned Android (most probably Android Nougat), Wi-Fi 2.4G/5G, 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.2.
